By now you know what it is that we are going to do this summer. We thought it would be good with a quick walkthrough of what it is anyways, and give you some info about the rules we set up for ourselves, aswell as some info about the individual games.
What's our goal?
We are going to attempt beating all the following final fantasy games in the listed order:
Final Fantasy I (Origins version)
Final Fantasy II (Origins version)
Final Fantasy III (NDS version, played on emulator)
Final Fantasy IV (Anthology version)
Final Fantasy V (Anthology version)
Final Fantasy VI (PSX version)
Final Fantasy VII (PSX version)
Final Fantasy VIII (PSX version)
Final Fantasy IX (PSX version)
Final Fantasy X (PS2 version)
Final Fantasy XII (PS2 version)
Final Fantasy XIII (PS3 version)
(Final Fantasy X-2, if we beat the others within 8 days)
The goal is to complete it in 8 days, but we have a worst case scenario of 10 days. Individual times for all the games can be found under the "Broadcasts" tab. The entire marathon is going to be live-streamed here on tantalus4.se, and we will also try to record everything.
Rules
We set up some rules for ourselves:
- A game is finished when the end-boss scene is over
- No guides allowed during the marathon, but we do allow ourselves to have one sheet with our own notes for each game
- We will be using glitches
- The games will be played as new games, without advantages of having a previous save file (Final Fantasy X, if you got a save file with all the Al Bhed Primers you get extra items)
Short info about the games
Final Fantasy XIII
Player: Hannes Bolinder
Goal: 18 hours
Player´s thoughts: It's a pretty straightforward game, no choices about what way to go or what to do next. Still, I really do like the game, everything is very beautiful and the combat system is enjoyable.
Glitches to be used: Deceptisol/retry
